Summary

The Italian DPA has imposed a fine of EUR 5000 on the Municipality of Vasto. A camera installed by the police to identify violations of the Highway Code captured the data subject on video. The controller failed to install adequate signage to inform data subjects of the video capture installation. Furthermore the controller failed to provide data subjects with more in-depth information about the processing of their personal data and the privacy policy on the police website was difficult to access. The camera also captured unobscured images of third-party vehicles.
