Summary

The Italian DPA has imposed a fine of EUR 1,500 on Francesco Gagliardi. The sole trader data controller processed personal data for marketing purposes. The data controller carried out direct email marketing campaigns and acquired personal data for this purpose via the Apollo.io platform. Despite never registering with or consenting to data collection by Apollo the data subject still received the controller's marketing emails. The data controller failed to ascertain whether the personal data provided by Apollo was lawful and did not adequately inform the data subject about how their personal data was processed.
