Summary

The Spanish DPA has imposed a fine of EUR 20,000 on EL LEÓN DE EL ESPAÑOL PUBLICACIONES, S.A. A video of an assault on an elderly person by a child had been posted on the controller's website and social media accounts. The video was not anonymised, with both the aggressor and the victim being identifiable. Their ages and the municipality where the attack had taken place were also named. Although the authority found that the event was of public interest, it ruled that the controller was not permitted to post an uncensored video of the event. This was especially the case given that the attacker had already been identified.
