Summary
The Cypriot DPA has imposed a fine of EUR 6,000 on Fidias Panayiotou. The controller, who is a Member of the European Parliament, launched an app to allow their voters to participate in their work. The DPA opened an investigation into the app. The app enabled users to join polls, post opinions and declare their candidacy for Parliament. It was found that the app had been launched without a DPIA, and that it required users to verify their identity using an ID card and a photo of themselves. This data was then processed for biometric purposes.
